Jacqui Robertson-Wade

Jacqui Robertson-Wade is a musician, teacher, author and publisher. Her love of viols has led her to specialise in 18th century repertoire of both the largest and smallest members of the viol family: the 7 string bass viol and 6 string pardessus de viole and 5 string quinton. In 2024 Jacqui flew to the USA to collect an original bass viol by George Seelos, c.1680 (called Fritz).

Jacqui plays viols with Peter Wendland in Dialogue Viols and is co-director of the South West Baroque Orchestra, where she plays Baroque cello and is a viola da gamba soloist.

Jacqui originally studied modern cello with Gwenyth George and viol with Edgar Hunt at Trinity College of Music and returned with a scholarship to study viols with Alison Crum, some 20 years later.

A pioneer in the world of teaching the viol to children, Jacqui taught viols for Warwickshire County Music Service from 1998 - 2016. During that time she developed a method for teaching viols, called Viol Player, and is available in French, German and USA edition. Viol Player Online.

Jacqui is an experienced teacher of both children and adults and is co-director of the Rondo Viol Academy, which runs weekend courses for players of all standards from Elementary to Advanced.  As well as face to face lessons, she also teaches viols and coaches viol consorts online, using Zoom and Jamulus.

Jacqui founded the global publishing company, Rondo Publishing, in 2005, selling editions in both hard copy and digital formats.

Jacqui has 3 grown up children and 6 grandchildren.
