Rondo Publishing was founded by teacher and viol player Jacqui Robertson-Wade in 2005. She and her husband, Michael Williamson, moved to Napton on the Hill in Warwickshire, and in 2011 Michael joined Rondo Publishing as general editor, with responsibility for sales and marketing. Formerly Head of Strings and Manager of County Performance Groups for Warwickshire County Music Service, Michael has plans to head up the modern string division of Rondo Publishing which was launched in 2013.
In the meantime Jacqui’s Viol Player Book 3, complete with play-along CD at both high or low pitches, has been published (£19.95); this is of great interest to intermediate viol players (treble, tenor and bass) and goes well with the latest Consorts for 5 Book 4, edited by Alison Crum, which was available at the end of 2013 (£20).
Right now we are preparing This Merry Pleasant Spring, the fourth collection of seasonal music in the Passamezzo series edited by Tamsin Lewis, and publication is imminent. This edition will come with separate sets of parts suitable for members of the string family (viols/violins & cellos) and for recorder players. Of course the score itself (£19.95) is ideal for vocal groups. The Passamezzo editions are a treasure trove of original, previously unpublished, material and is a must-have for all those who are interested in discovering music from the past. The others in the series are In Peascod Time (summer) and two for Christmas: To Shorten Winter’s Sadness and Old Christmas Returned.
One more exciting piece of news – which is to do with the modern string section of Rondo Publishing: Celli Jelli Book 3 by Patsy Gritton will be launched in May, and this will complete the series of 3 volumes of original, witty and very beautiful music for cello ensemble (4 or 5 cellos).
